Electrical Testing

The two main risks associated with electricity are electric shock and fire. Over time, installations and wiring can deteriorate, which in turn can create heat or even fire. Regular testing of electrical installations and appliances guards against the risks of injury to personnel and damage to property.

Falcon's highly qualified workforce are experienced in carrying out all electrical testing. They guarantee to do so with maximum efficiency and minimum inconvenience to the client. If required, the work can be performed outwith normal working hours.

Fixed Installation Periodic Inspection & Testing

Also known as Fixed Wire Testing, this is the rigorous testing of all electrical circuits contained within the fabric of a building or premises - socket outlets, lighting circuits etc and includes checking all fuses, circuit breakers and cables.

How regularly should this be done?

Recommended testing periods can be found in the current IEE Wiring Regulations BS7671. They vary from once a year to once every five years, depending on the environment and the use of the installation. As a general guide:

  • Cinemas, theatres, hotels and restaurants should be tested annually
  • Industrial premises should be tested at least once every 3 years
  • Commercial premises and educational establishments should be tested at least once every 5 years

Falcon 's highly trained staff carry out inspections of new installations and periodic inspection and testing of existing ones for insurance purposes. All inspections are carried out to the recognised standard (BS7671).

Once Testing has been completed, the Falcon team collate the results and issue the client with a full NIC / EIC report containing notification of any remedial action required.

Portable Appliance (PAT) Testing

PAT Testing is a documented method of electrical appliance maintenance, carried out on any piece of equipment that can be disconnected from its socket and taken elsewhere - everything from computers to kettles, pneumatic drills to incubators!

Regular testing of appliances ensures businesses are complying with the Electricity at Work Regulations and ISO Quality Assurance standards and guards against the risks of injury to personnel and damage to property

Falcon can carry out testing of electrical appliances in the company's workshop or on-site if required by the client - MAXIMUM PIECE OF MIND WITH MINIMUM INCONVENIENCE.

Emergency Lighting Testing

By their very nature, emergency lighting systems need to be reliable! But like all electrical installations, they are vulnerable to deterioration or faults developing over time and these may cause the systems to fail. So it's essential that suitably qualified engineers test emergency lighting systems regularly.

Falcon offers a fast and efficient Emergency Lighting Testing Service - giving clients MAXIMUM PIECE OF MIND WITH MINIMUM DISRUPTION.
